Encompassing the North, South, and East of San Francisco, the Bay Area Chapter is professionally diverse as it is topographically. The Bay Area Chapter convenes several times a year. We rotate in meeting location, to reach the geographical span of our members. Meetings could entail dinner and a presentation by a natural resource professional, a BBQ, or a trip to a local park. All ranges of forestry professionals and students are encouraged to attend and participate at the meetings. Meetings are jointly held with the UC Berkeley Student SAF.( http://nature.berkeley.edu/forestryclub ).

The Bay Area Chapter has a history of involvement with Forest Conservation Days, which occurs every March in Sanborn Park , Saratoga , CA . It is a weeklong program that brings 3000 San Jose 5 th graders to participate in a 2-hour hikes in a redwood forest. Along the way, the school children visit staffed stops where biologists, silviculturist, and soil scientists give brief talks on the web of life, how a trees grows, soil science and etc… Many SAF members and natural resource professionals from throughout the state help host the event.

To find out the latest events for the Bay Area Chapter please check out chapter news, on the Norcal SAF website.
