Natural stands of aspen have been shown to be one of the most unique and important ecological niches for many wildlife and herbaceous species. Currently many of the natural aspen stands located within California are in bad condition. Therefore the importance of aspen restoration has been growing significantly. To help aid forest managers and ecologists with aspen restoration NorCal SAF and many other Forest Organizations feel it is important to reform the verbage of CCR 939.15 and 959.15 (Protection of Wildlife Habitat) in the California Forest Practive Rules. Please read NorCal's Letter to California Board of Forestry Chairman-Stan Dixon and help join the effort to insure California's natural aspen stands are saved and restored. The health of our forests depends on it. Thanks!!!
